Recent and imminent productions -

After critical acclaim (4-stars Guardian/ Times and even "Fabulous"- Richard and Judy! ) and popular success with standing ovations every night (playing to 95% for a month with extra performances) his Cloughie comedy , OLD BIG 'EAD IN THE SPIRIT OF THE MAN played a ten-week National Tour in 2006, before a successful return for four weeks to the Nottingham Playhouse in June. The script is published by Methuen.

A second play inspired by Brian Clough THE DEVIL'S LEAGUE ( a magical meeting between Clough and Robert Maxwell) was to open at Derby Playhouse in February 2008, starring Colin Tarrant and directed by Alan Dossor - until the theatre went into liquidation during the rehearsal period! Plans for another production are being made for the autumn of 2009.

His hi-tech psycho-thriller SMILE had a very successful run in May 2008 as a co-production between NEW PERSPECTIVES and LAKESIDE ARTS CENTRE directed by Matt Aston (cf. reviews and information on lakesidearts.smile) .

He returns to Lakeside in March 2008 for the premiere of his play on D.H. Lawrence's extraordinary meeting with the American bohemians, Harry and Caresse Crosby- EMPTY BED BLUES - in a co-production with Lincoln Performance Centre. It is planned to tour to Santa Fe (Taos) , as the opening event of a Lawrence Festival.

GLAMOUR, his latest comedy set in the sixties around the Krays visit to Nottingham, opens at the Nottingham Playhouse in February 2008, directed by Bill Alexander, designed by Ruari Murchison.

His film on "magick" TIGER WOMAN is now in development with DarkFibre Films, producers of the award-winning LIVING GODDESSES. He is also working on a comic musical CHANGING FASHION as well as developing a major T.V. serial.

TOUCHED was given a reading , directed by Terry Johnson and with Anne Marie Duff in the lead, as part of the Royal Court's 50th. Year anniversary. NICK HERN BOOKS have published a new edition with an afterword by the author. It was recently re-staged at RADA and had a successful revival (May 2008) at Salisbury Rep..

The premiere of the THE FOX.. AND THE LITTLE VIXEN with Tangere Arts opened at Derby Playhouse and toured through the autumn of '05.

In July 2006 , Stephen ran a weeks intensive writing workshop at the Method Studio in Vancouver, as well as workshopping and performing his own piece- IT'S NOT PERSONAL - at the Momentum New Writing Festival at Lakeside. He has also ran writing workshops and mentoring programmes for EM-MEDIA (Films). Theatre Writers Partnership, and various universities and MA courses. Having completed his term on the National Council of Arts Council England (and Chair of ACE- East Midlands) he is now on the theatre panel of WRITERS GUILD G.B..
